Water treatment technician (level 3)
Become a qualified Water Hygiene Technician with TBG through a 3-year apprenticeship. Gain industry-recognised qualifications while combining 4 days of hands-on training with 1 day at a training provider, followed by 12 months of on-the-job development.
The work
- Undertaking monitoring and inspections of tanks and water systems
- Monthly temperature monitoring
- Weekly checks on flushing systems
- Chlorination of hot water cylinders
- Taking water samples for TVC (Total Viable Count) bacteria control in hot and cold water systems
- Liaising with independent laboratories
- Developing understanding of the flushing rates, heat, and use of thermometers
- Maintenance of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV). Ensuring digital values are accurate. Checks, six monthly servicing and annual inspections
- Shower head cleaning, descaling and quarterly disinfections
- Develop an understanding HSL risk assessments and undertaking remedial works
Training
Water Treatment Technician Level 3.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the occupational standard.
