Teaching assistant (level 3)
A vacancy has arisen for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our team at Churnet View Middle School, with immediate effect. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and highly supportive team. We have a strong commitment to raising levels of attainment through a creative approach to the curriculum.
The work
Working as an Apprentice Teaching Assistant you will provide support to teachers in preparing for lessons and helping create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all pupils. During Lessons, you will work together with the class teacher to support pupils with classroom activities and help to manage behaviour.
Excellent communication and enthusiasm will be key in supporting all pupils to progress, achieve and overcome any barriers to learning. You will support in all areas of the curriculum including literacy, numeracy and ICT within the classroom. You will also accompany teaching staff and pupils on trips and other out of school activities.
You will also act as a role model for pupils and be appositive influence on their behaviour and performance at school. So, it’s important that you demonstrate maturity and excellence in all you do. It will also be important to promote the ethos of the school at every opportunity.
Tasks will include:-
- Working alongside classroom teacher and supporting to deliver lessons
- Supporting individual pupils with their earning needs
- Full participation in all staff training and classroom activities
What you come out with
Previous apprentices have been offered permanent Teaching Assistant roles and others have progressed further on to Inclusion roles or teaching qualifications.
Offers of employment on completion of the apprenticeship are not guaranteed, but could be available for those apprentices who demonstrate a commitment to all areas of school life.
