Groundworker (level 2)
The Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship equips learners with skills to prepare sites, install drainage, construct foundations, lay paving and concrete, and work safely in construction.
Apprentices gain practical experience while earning a recognised qualification, providing a route into construction and civil engineering careers.
The work
- Preparing and setting up construction sites
- Digging trenches for foundations, drainage, and utilities
- Assisting with the installation of drainage systems and pipework
- Laying concrete for foundations, paths, and other structures
- Installing kerbs, edging, paving slabs, and block paving
- Backfilling and compacting excavations
- Using hand tools, power tools, and small plant equipment safely
- Reading and following site drawings and specifications
- Measuring and setting out work areas
- Loading, unloading, and storing construction materials
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Following health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Working alongside groundworkers, plant operators, and other construction trades
- Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance of tools and equipment
Training
Apprentice will spend 2 days each month at Greenlight Safety & Training.
